Within days an analyst found the claim, and a week later the bill was dismissed, they say.

Writer Deborah Sosin says their rented apartment's dishwasher broke in December 2024 and stayed broken despite multiple polite requests. With a new lease pending they asked ChatGPT to help write a forceful letter; it framed their priorities as keeping the tenancy, protecting their health, and getting the dishwasher replaced without triggering hostility. In a later update they say they had a cordial in-person talk with the landlady, a brand-new dishwasher was on the premises to be installed, and 'the letter worked.'

Mashable's writer asked ChatGPT how much they needed to save from each paycheck to move over 1,100 miles to Chicago, with rent of $1,000–$1,500 in mind. They say the math was spotty: unless the prompt specified July 1, 2024, it assumed other dates, and once it calculated 10 pay periods instead of the 7 they gave. After tweaking, it gave a number that matched their own math. Apartment-search GPTs were a worse experience than Googling.
