File a parent's medical invoices with two insurers using Claude in Chrome

Cláudia Ribeiro da Silva had Claude in Chrome fill two insurers' claim forms for an 80-year-old mother, but it didn't save much time.

Recreated prompt

The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote one from what it describes. The result shown is the source's, not ours.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Here are scanned invoices from my mother's doctor visits. For each one, read the provider, date, amount and service, check whether it's covered by the public health system and by the private insurer, then fill in each claim form and upload the invoice pages in the order each form asks for.

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

The source used Claude and Claude in Chrome, which can take actions in a browser or app. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Optional stronger version

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Read a parent's medical invoices and fill in the claim forms for each insurer, skipping anything that isn't covered.

Questions to ask me first:
- Which insurers or health systems do we file with, and in what order?
- Do you have the coverage rules for each one?
- Should I stop before each final submit for your review?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Scanned invoices: [FILES]
- Insurers and claim portals: [NAMES / LINKS]
- Coverage rules for each: [RULES OR POLICY PAGES]
- Patient details the forms need: [NAME, POLICY NUMBER — I'LL ENTER THESE MYSELF IF YOU PREFER]

Rules:
- Read each invoice once and keep a list of provider, tax ID, date, service and amount.
- Check each expense against that insurer's coverage rules before filling anything, and skip ones that aren't covered.
- Upload pages in the order each form asks for.
- Never press the final submit button; leave each form ready for me to review.

Checkpoint: After the first invoice, show me the filled form and wait for my OK before doing the rest.

If you get stuck: If a field or coverage rule is unclear, stop on that invoice and ask rather than guessing.

Verify before you finish: Compare the amounts and dates on each form with the invoice and list any mismatch.

Output: A list of invoices with their status for each insurer (ready to submit, not covered or needs my input) and the forms left open for review.

Done when: Every covered invoice has a filled form waiting for my review, and nothing uncovered was entered.

Outcome

Cláudia Ribeiro da Silva's mother is 80 and sees the doctor often, and every visit means filing the same invoice twice: once with the public health subsystem and once with a private insurer, each with different forms and coverage rules. Ribeiro da Silva mapped the workflow on paper first, then used Claude to read the scanned invoices and Claude in Chrome to fill in the live claim forms by clicking, uploading and switching tabs. Skills built in Claude Desktop didn't carry over to the Chrome extension, so Ribeiro da Silva built the routine as a Chrome Shortcut instead. It turned out slower than expected, and the time saved per expense was "not much" even after streamlining. The real win was no longer having to scrutinize every invoice or fight awkward forms, and no more submitting expenses that weren't covered after losing focus several invoices in.

Evidence: Described by posterThe person describes what happened in words, without screenshots or video.

Known limitations

PartialThe source says it only partly worked, or had a significant problem a person had to deal with.

What went wrong: The forms got filled and uncovered expenses stopped slipping through, but the process was slow and saved little time per invoice.
