Automate a podcast-to-blog-and-newsletter workflow with Claude Code

Prompt Recreated prompt
The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote this from what it describes.
Build me a tool I can run from my computer's terminal that automates my podcast workflow. After I write the outline in Google Docs and record, it should generate the show notes and newsletter text, save each as a Google Doc in the episode folder, then create a blog post draft and a podcast episode draft on my website and a newsletter draft in Kit. I'm not a coder, so walk me through any steps I have to do myself.

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini opens empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.
The source used Claude Code, which can take actions on your computer or in a browser. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish. Goal: Automate the copy-and-paste parts of my content workflow while I keep writing and approving everything myself. Questions to ask me first: - What are the exact steps you do now for each episode or post, in order? - Which tools do you use (docs, website platform, newsletter tool, podcast host)? - Which steps must stay manual for you to review? Inputs (fill in or confirm): - Current workflow steps: [STEPS] - Tools and accounts: [GOOGLE DRIVE / WEBSITE / NEWSLETTER] - Folder structure per episode: [FOLDERS] - Steps I want to review by hand: [REVIEW STEPS] Rules: - Never write or change my creative outline; only reformat what I wrote. - Create drafts only, never publish or schedule anything. - Store API keys in a local file that's excluded from any sharing or uploads, and explain how to get each key. - Explain each terminal step in plain language, and wait while I do any manual step. Checkpoint: Build and test the first command (generate documents) on one episode, and wait for my OK before building the publishing command. If you get stuck: When something fails, ask me for a screenshot of the error and give one fix at a time. Verify before you finish: Run the full workflow on a test episode and confirm every draft appears in the right place. Output: Two terminal commands, a setup guide and a checklist of what I review before scheduling. Done when: Running two commands produces every draft I need, and I only review and schedule.

Outcome
The non-developer host of the Prompting Curiosity podcast turns every episode into show notes, a blog post and a newsletter, which meant a long chain of copying and pasting between Claude, Google Docs, the website and the Kit (formerly ConvertKit) newsletter tool. In about 7 hours, Claude Code built a Node.js command-line tool that connects Google Drive, the website and Kit through their APIs, walking the host through each manual setup step and answering screenshot-based questions whenever the host got stuck. Now one command has Claude generate the show notes and newsletter text into Google Docs, and a second creates the blog post, podcast episode and newsletter drafts and uploads the featured image, automating about 95% of the workflow. The host still writes every outline and reviews each draft before scheduling.

Context: The host says it runs on a $20-a-month Claude Pro plan and needed some patience with API keys and the terminal. The 95% figure is the host's estimate.

Edit a podcast video and build its clips, thumbnail and article with ChatGPT
Right after recording an episode of The REM Advantage with co-host Taylor Hack, Andrew Fogliato gave ChatGPT the raw Zoom recording with one request: edit the video, make a YouTube thumbnail, write the article, create Instagram Reels clips and build the rest of the usual content. Fogliato also supplied examples of past episodes, articles and branding. About 25 minutes later ChatGPT had edited the video into a branded broadcast layout, removed the opening false start and a private section, and produced clips, a thumbnail and the full content package. One of the assets was a list of things a human should check, and the captions, article, visuals and facts still needed review before publishing. Fogliato had to buy additional usage credits after it burned through the included limit.
