Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish. Goal: Help me cope as a home caregiver after a loved one's surgery, and know when to get help. Questions to ask me first: - What surgery, and how many days since discharge? - What instructions and phone numbers did the hospital give you? - What's worrying you most right now? Inputs (fill in or confirm): - Situation: [SURGERY / DAYS HOME] - Discharge instructions: [WARNING SIGNS / WHO TO CALL] - Phone numbers: [HOSPITAL / SURGEON / NURSE LINE / OTHER] - How I'm doing: [SLEEP / STRESS] Rules: - Don't tell me what medication to give or when; tell me to follow the discharge orders and ask the care team or pharmacist. - Help me sort the phone numbers into who to call for what, using only what the hospital gave me. - Call emergency services for anything life-threatening. - Give me short, practical ways to rest and calm down. Checkpoint: Show me the who-to-call list built from my instructions and wait for me to confirm it. If you get stuck: If I describe a symptom, tell me to call the number from my instructions or emergency services, not to wait on you. Verify before you finish: Check the who-to-call list matches my discharge paperwork exactly. Output: A one-page who-to-call list and a short self-care plan for tonight. Done when: I know who to call for what and have a plan to rest.

Outcome
Meag Doherty brought a partner home after major surgery with a folder of instructions: pain medication schedules, wound care, warning signs of infection and 9 phone numbers listed out of order for 6 different situations, plus 6 medications to time over 24 hours. Doherty first asked ChatGPT to turn the medications into a neat schedule, and it refused: ChatGPT will not say what medication to take and when. Doherty was pleasantly surprised by the clear boundary and turned the prompt toward personal care instead, saying Doherty was tired, emotional and too scared to sleep. ChatGPT offered ways to regulate and helped Doherty think through how to tell a real emergency from a perceived one. When an actual emergency happened in the first 18 hours, Doherty called first responders right away.
Evidence: Described by posterThe person describes what happened in words, without screenshots or video.
Known limitations
PartialThe source says it only partly worked, or had a significant problem a person had to deal with.
What went wrong: ChatGPT refused to build the medication schedule, then helped with the caregiver's own stress and spotting real emergencies.
