A prompt is the message you send to the AI tool. Copy the one on this page, put your own details where it asks, and read the answer before you act on it.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Help me build a student grocery optimizer: pull live Kroger prices, maximize protein per dollar under a weekly budget like $75, output the cart, then generate a 7-day meal plan using only those items. Fix any price or total_spent bugs you find.

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

The source used Claude Code, which can take actions on your computer or in a browser. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Ship a protein-per-dollar grocery optimizer with a weekly meal plan from the cart.

Questions to ask me first:
- What weekly budget and food categories?
- Which store API and nutrition dataset?
- Where should the app run?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Budget: [$75]
- Categories: [CHICKEN / DAIRY / …]
- Store: [KROGER API]
- Data: [OPEN FOOD FACTS]

Rules:
- Stay at or under budget with transparent totals.
- Meal plan may use only purchased items.
- Log and fix price-fetch bugs before claiming precision.

Checkpoint: Show a sample $75 cart and protein total before UI polish.

If you get stuck: If the store API lacks a location id, stop and fix auth before optimizing.

Verify before you finish: Reported spend matches the cart line sum within a cent.

Output: Working optimizer UI plus 7-day plan from the cart.

Done when: I can shop the list and cook the week inside budget.

Outcome

Student Akshay Thakare built MacroMarket with Claude Code: a linear-programming grocery planner on live Kroger prices plus Open Food Facts data (170,863 products cleaned from a 12GB CSV). On a $75 weekly budget the optimizer spent $74.99 (99%+ utilization), then AI produced a Mon–Sun meal plan from only those groceries. Claude Code also fixed a broken Kroger locationId price bug and a $74-vs-$57 total_spent reporting error over a weekend build.
