Train for a first half marathon on a day-by-day plan built by ChatGPT
With no coach and a few 5Ks and 10Ks behind them, the runner behind Everyday Ai + Autonomy gave ChatGPT their weekly mileage, usual distance, pace and the days they could run. It built a day-by-day, week-by-week plan with tempo runs and long runs. The runner printed it, read it through, wrote every run on a calendar and ticked each off, then ran a first Berkeley Half Marathon on that plan. About a year later they ran Berkeley again and set a personal record.

Jo Thomas's 9-year-old is studying geography and cultures this year, and the curriculum included a printable blank passport to fill in. Thomas asked ChatGPT for a replica stamp of that week's country with the day's date, scaled it in Word to about the size of a real passport stamp, and printed it for the child to cut out and paste in. It looked so good the child was very excited to have a real stamp, and they plan to do the same for each country.

Chris Spitzenberger wanted to eat healthier without being much of a cook. ChatGPT drew up a week of family meals, then added every ingredient to an HEB cart for curbside pickup using Computer Use. It also made a PDF of the weekly plan and emailed it to Spitzenberger's spouse. That evening Spitzenberger cooked the first meal from the plan.

When Andrew Wilkinson's New York building emailed a 9% rent increase at lease renewal, Wilkinson asked ChatGPT to pull current listings for comparable units in the building and within 5 blocks, with asking rents, time on the market and concessions, then draft a polite reply backed by those comps. It returned a table and a draft. Wilkinson checked the listings personally, fixed a few things and sent it. The increase came down to 1.2%.

Austin Wilson spent about 2 hours one week fixing appliances with ChatGPT. For a dishwasher that wasn't cleaning well, Wilson gave ChatGPT a few photos; it pulled the model number, read the manual and reviews, and suggested a fix in under 30 seconds. For an oven that wasn't heating properly, Wilson described the problem by voice and ChatGPT recommended getting a multimeter, which let Wilson pin down the problem. The oven still needs a technician to install the new part.

Melissa Danielli's daughter wants to be a nurse and get direct admission to a nursing program. Danielli paid $85 to the organizer of a Facebook moms' group for a spreadsheet of 350 schools with their requirements, and the family cut it to 50 by region. Working on two computers, one with Claude and one with ChatGPT, they built spreadsheets, ruled out schools that didn't fit (including ones the AI judged a poor fit) and compiled a final list of 18 schools in a couple of hours one evening.

Carlos Mendoza's 4th-grade son marked only B and F as correct in a Santillana exercise on numbers up to the billions. The platform's solution marked B, D and F, but D said '9,615 rounded to the billions is 10,000', which is false. When Mendoza asked ChatGPT to review it, it first said Santillana was right, reading 'billions' as if it were 'thousands'. Only when Mendoza pointed to the exact word did ChatGPT acknowledge the error. The son had been right from the beginning.

A Topretirements blogger's Medicare Part D drug plan wrote to say the 2027 premium would rise from $98.30 to $126 a month. They asked ChatGPT for cheaper options, giving their Florida ZIP code, their medications and preferred pharmacies. It suggested several, including a plan at $5.30 a month in their area, $1,448.40 a year less in premiums. They didn't switch on ChatGPT's word alone: as their insurance agent also advised, they checked it in Medicare's official Plan Finder, which confirmed the switch made sense, and enrolled. They get most prescriptions through the VA, so the cheapest premium suited them; they note others need to compare total yearly cost.

Dave W Plummer missed an important appearance and asked the ChatGPT desktop app, which has access to their Gmail, to work out how it happened. It found Plummer had noon in mind, the time of an earlier prep call, while the event started at 7:50 a.m. Pacific, with emails also mentioning 8:50 a.m. Mountain. When Codex then reconstructed the email trail, it found the organiser had cancelled the calendar invite sent to Plummer's regular address while sorting out a Teams login mismatch, and the later confirmation email had no new invite. With Codex, Plummer then set up a recurring agent that reads email threads, including changes and cancellations, adds missing calendar entries with the source email and link, and flags contradictions. Test alerts at first didn't notify on the iPhone; after checking alarms, sync and Focus settings, a test finally rang. It now checks every ten minutes while the Mac is awake; its first historical review was still running.

Gokul N.'s blood test results from Superpower took 20 days. Gokul asked ChatGPT to check the refund policy, look at the dates and email the concierge. The email cited Section 14(a) of the membership agreement, set out the timeline with Superpower's own support replies, asked them to confirm when results had actually been available, and added a fallback asking for an exception if a different policy applied. Two days later Superpower confirmed a full $199 membership refund.

Mr Jasper's spouse needed a Tax ID, and the agent they contacted quoted 10k and asked for the spouse's NIN to process it the next day. Mr Jasper asked ChatGPT about it and how long it takes, and found it was something they could do themselves in a few minutes. They opened the official portal with the spouse's NIN and the Tax ID was ready in less than one minute, saving the 10k fee.

Ary Aranguiz connected ChatGPT to Gmail and asked it to create four labels: ACTION/Reply, ACTION/Decision, ACTION/Review and STATUS/Waiting. ChatGPT then reviewed 204 unread emails from the past seven days and proposed which belonged under each label, separating people waiting for a reply, invitations needing a decision, information to review and routine mail needing no action. It noticed the original label set was incomplete and recommended adding ACTION/Review. Aranguiz approved the proposals, and only then did it create the label and apply the labels. It didn't send, delete, archive, forward or mark anything as read.

joenot443 was quoted $6k to fix their pool's plumbing and rebuilt it themselves over a few days with YouTube and GPT, for about $1k of materials. It was their first outdoor plumbing job and they'd never touched PVC. They say they wouldn't have had the confidence from YouTube alone: specific diagnostic help and a full diagram made the difference, and they had it prepare an SVG of the whole assembly with every measurement and part labelled.

Natasha Hsi got five homeowner's insurance quotes for a complicated house. They differed on exclusions, wind and named-storm deductibles, and admitted versus surplus-lines insurers, and Hsi found them hard to follow. They fed all five plus their current renewal into ChatGPT and Claude and ran scenarios such as a hurricane loss and a total loss. When Hsi suggested starting with BBB ratings, both pushed back: BBB tracks complaints, while financial strength ratings show whether an insurer can pay after a storm. Hsi took the questions back to their original agent, who returned a better-structured quote at a more reasonable cost with none of the weakly rated insurers.

Rathesh Prabakar, a senior software engineer in Bengaluru, quit in October 2025 without a job lined up. Prabakar applied before work and prepared after, and asked ChatGPT to act as an experienced résumé writer. For each interview, Prabakar gave it their skills, experience and the job description plus the time available and asked for a prep plan; a high share of the likely questions it suggested came up. Questions Prabakar couldn't answer went back to ChatGPT afterwards, and doubtful answers were cross-checked on Google. With a referral from a LinkedIn contact, Prabakar accepted an offer in early November.

Before moving within Denmark, Vera Termühlen-Enger's family first talked through what each of them needed: school, nature, community, health support, job opportunities, and for their son, a skate park nearby. Only then did they ask ChatGPT to analyse possible cities against those criteria. It suggested 8 places; they crossed 3 off from what they already knew and visited the remaining 5 during the winter holidays, walking around, speaking to schools and talking to people. They chose Odense, a city they hadn't known and probably wouldn't have found without ChatGPT, though the final reasons were the school principal, the atmosphere and the neighbourhood.

Isaiah Crossman, a salesperson, started shopping a few days before the end of the month, when dealers chasing monthly targets are most motivated. After a test drive and a benchmark price from the nearest dealer, Crossman had ChatGPT list the 25 closest dealerships with links to their contact forms and draft one message: driven it, ready to buy, this spec and these colours, send your best out-the-door price. Sending it to all 25 took about 7 minutes. Over about 2 hours of calls across a few days, a general manager 40 minutes away made a same-day deal: $7,000 less than one dealer's earlier offer and $2,100 less than the next lowest.

The parent can speak Kannada but can't read or write it, and the exam questions come from the exercises at the end of each lesson. They found the Grade 3 textbook as a PDF on the Karnataka education portal and uploaded it to ChatGPT. Within seconds it gave answers, and the child confirmed they were the ones needed. Some pages came back without answers, but uploading those pages separately filled the gaps.

The landlord wouldn't explain the costs. Strandfelt used ChatGPT to structure a complaint to the local rent tribunal, referencing the email thread, the move-in and move-out reports and the relevant legal paragraphs. The tribunal ruled in their favour, and the landlord had to return more of the deposit. The costs were 300 DKK to file and less than 200 DKK for a month of ChatGPT Plus.

Loren Cole, a freelance chef, got a £60 parking charge for overstaying by five minutes at a retail park, despite paying for a three-hour ticket after the payment machines played up. When the operator threatened court, Cole used ChatGPT to scrutinise its letters and evidence: it pointed out claims of non-payment despite a successful card payment, a floor plan sent instead of photos of the signs, and missing detail on entry and exit times against the 10-minute grace period, and it drafted replies. Cole added photos showing the signage didn't match the floor plan, and the operator discontinued the claim. Cole then used ChatGPT to claim litigant-in-person costs at £19 per hour; after a default costs certificate and a ChatGPT-drafted final warning, the operator paid £462.15.

From several options, Morrison chose roasted orange and cranberry chicken with roasted red potatoes with garlic and parmesan, plus store-bought rolls, salad and dessert. ChatGPT said what to start when so everything finished together, and gave a shopping list. It took 5 minutes, and Morrison says it worked perfectly and was a hit.

Chris L.'s family spent about $19k on healthcare in a year that wasn't especially bad health-wise, because they'd hit the out-of-pocket maximum on a plan that didn't fit their needs. During open enrollment they photographed the pricing and coverage pages of the enrollment booklet and gave them to ChatGPT, with the care they expected. After 5 and a half minutes it compared the PPO, Gold and Bronze plans, explained how an FSA and an HSA would work out, and gave best- and worst-case yearly costs for each. They then asked about the costs in between those two extremes and got another detailed answer. They checked the output with two other models, which gave the same numbers, and expect to pay between $2,600 and $16,500 in 2026, saving at least $2,500 compared with the year before. It took them under 20 minutes.

Product manager Amar Saurabh, ex-Meta and TikTok, got only two or three interviews in the first two months of applying, and plain ChatGPT kept giving generic answers and asking for the résumé again. In about an hour and a half Saurabh built a custom GPT, 'PM job search advisor', loaded with their résumé, LinkedIn profile and project details. It drafted recruiter outreach (including 300-character connection requests), tailored the résumé to each job description and prepped each interview. Over two months Saurabh landed at least 7 interviews, with companies including Reddit, Intuit and PayPal, and took a lead product manager job at PayPal.
