A prompt is the message you send to the AI tool. Copy the one on this page, put your own details where it asks, and read the answer before you act on it.

The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote one from what it describes. The result shown is the source's, not ours.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Build me a household management web app I can install as a progressive web app on my phone and a tablet. It should have a chores list with a tab for each family member, a household inventory pre-filled with common products I can edit, a family spending tracker and a family calendar. Keep it simple, and tell me how to host it so Chrome can install it.

Try this in:

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

The source used Claude and Claude Code, which can take actions on your computer or in a browser. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Opens in a new tab. We don't see what you send.

Optional stronger version

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Build a simple household app my family can use from a shared tablet or our phones.

Questions to ask me first:
- Which features matter most: chores, inventory, spending, calendar or goals?
- Who will use it, and on which devices?
- Do you have anywhere to host it, such as GitHub?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Features in priority order: [FEATURES]
- Family members and their chores: [NAMES AND CHORES]
- Rooms and common household items: [LIST]
- Devices: [DEVICES]
- Hosting option: [HOSTING]

Rules:
- Start with the smallest working version and add features one at a time.
- Keep data on our devices unless I ask for syncing.
- Explain any setup step in plain language.
- Don't use paid services without asking me.

Checkpoint: Show me the first working version and wait for my feedback before adding the next feature.

If you get stuck: If a feature like syncing is hard, give me a simple stopgap, such as file import and export, and explain the trade-off.

Verify before you finish: Test each feature on the devices I named and list anything that doesn't work.

Output: The app files, setup steps and a short list of next features.

Done when: My family can open the app on our devices and use the main features.

Outcome

Andrew Grush of Android Authority couldn't find one household app that covered chores, a family calendar, household inventory and family goals without a subscription, so Grush built one with Claude. A first attempt at a native Android app with Claude Code produced a sort-of-working alpha, but it was slow and missing many features. Grush switched to having Claude build a web app and then a progressive web app hosted on GitHub. Within about a month it tracked family spending, inventory and cleaning tasks, with a chores tab for each family member and Google Calendar integration, running on an old tablet stuck to the fridge as a family hub. Months later Grush uses it nearly every day, is on roughly the 10th build and has a rough alpha of a native Android rewrite. Back-and-forth edits burned through usage limits, and the design still looks somewhat generic.

Context: The exact prompt isn't quoted, so the prompt here is recreated. Grush used Claude Opus models over several months; cross-device syncing was still a work in progress.
