Look through my connected accounts and recent spending and point out where my money is slipping away without a good reason, like subscriptions I don't use, bills that went up or habits that cost more than they should. For each one, tell me what to do about it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish. Goal: Find recurring charges, bill increases and spending habits I could cut, and tell me exactly what to do about each one. Questions to ask me first: - Which accounts or statements can you see, and for what months? - Which subscriptions do you know you want to keep? - Do you want help with phone scripts for bills that went up? Inputs (fill in or confirm): - Accounts or statements: [ACCOUNTS / MONTHS] - Subscriptions to keep no matter what: [LIST] - Monthly bills I expect (internet, phone, insurance): [BILLS AND USUAL AMOUNTS] - Spending areas I want to look at most: [FOR EXAMPLE TAKEOUT, CONVENIENCE STORES] Rules: - Only report charges you can see in my data, with the date and amount for each. - Flag any recurring charge that changed from one month to the next and say by how much. - Never cancel, move money or call anyone yourself; tell me the steps and I'll do them. - Give a monthly savings estimate for each suggestion and label it as an estimate. Checkpoint: Show me the list of flagged charges before writing any scripts or plans. If you get stuck: If you can't tell what a charge is for, list it as unknown and ask me instead of guessing. Verify before you finish: Check that every amount matches the statement and that the total savings adds up. Output: A table of flagged charges and habits, the action for each, estimated monthly savings and short talking points for any bill I need to call about. Done when: I have a short, checked list of cuts and know what to do for each.

Outcome
Eric Hal Schwartz of TechRadar connected accounts to ChatGPT's finances tool and asked it to find places where money was slipping away without much awareness. A couple of weeks in, ChatGPT's weekly report flagged a streaming service that seemed unusually expensive because of an $11.99-a-month add-on, plus a $9.99-a-month music app from a forgotten trial that had collected nearly $60. Canceling both saved $21.98 a month. ChatGPT also spotted that the internet bill had gone up $10 after a promotional rate expired and wrote talking points for the call, and the provider applied a new promotion that took the $10 back off. It suggested switching takeout from delivery to pickup, which saved about $35 over the next month, and pointed out how many small convenience-store trips were adding up. After two months, the changes were saving about $67 in a typical month.
