A prompt is the message you send to the AI tool. Copy the one on this page, put your own details where it asks, and read the answer before you act on it.

Recreated prompt

The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote one from what it describes. The result shown is the source's, not ours.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Read our Home Assistant family shopping list through the local n8n MCP bridge on my Mac, merge it with this week’s meal-plan groceries, deduplicate, and add everything to my Kroger cart. Do not expose the home server to the public internet. Stop before checkout.

Try this in:

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

The source used Claude Cowork, which can take actions in a browser or app. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Opens in a new tab. We don't see what you send.

Optional stronger version

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Merge the family Home Assistant list with the meal-plan groceries into one Kroger cart.

Questions to ask me first:
- How do I reach Home Assistant and Kroger from this Mac?
- Where is this week’s meal-plan grocery file?
- Any items to never order?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- HA bridge: [N8N MCP ON LAN]
- Meal-plan list: [FILE]
- Store: [KROGER]
- Never-buy: [LIST]

Rules:
- Keep traffic on the LAN; no public tunnel.
- Deduplicate overlapping items.
- Never check out.

Checkpoint: Show the merged list before adding to Kroger.

If you get stuck: If the LAN MCP is down, export the merge as a text list instead.

Verify before you finish: Cart contains meal-plan needs plus family adds without duplicates.

Output: Merged list plus cart summary ready for human checkout.

Done when: The family tablet list and meal plan land in one cart.

Outcome

After Part 1’s Claude meal planner already pushed groceries to Kroger, Patt S still manually merged a family Home Assistant shopping list from a kitchen tablet. Part 2 bridges Claude Cowork on a Mac to local n8n over LAN with mcp-remote (no public tunnel): Claude reads the Home Assistant list, merges it with the meal-plan groceries, deduplicates, and adds everything to one Kroger cart. Spouse and child keep using the tablet list without knowing Claude is involved.

Evidence: Described by posterThe person describes what happened in words, without screenshots or video.
