What the prompt labels mean

These are the person's own words, as shared in the source.

we're going to [place] from [dates] with kids ages [ages] who are into [whatever's true], staying at [hotel / airbnb / family's house]. build me four things. one, a loose day-by-day plan with one main thing per day and real downtime built in, and put the most tiring thing early in the trip while everyone's still fresh. two, a packing list for each person, including the stuff everyone forgets. three, restaurant and activity ideas with rough prices, note what's walking distance from where we're staying, and include at least one rainy day backup. four, the list of what i should book or buy before we go, in order of what sells out first. keep it realistic for little kids, not pinterest.

Optional stronger version

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Plan a realistic family trip I can run from one chat.

Questions to ask me first:
- Where, when and where are you staying?
- Who is going, with ages and interests?
- What's the budget and is anything already booked?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Destination and dates: [PLACE / DATES]
- Staying at: [HOTEL / RENTAL / FAMILY]
- Travelers: [AGES AND INTERESTS]
- Budget: [AMOUNT]
- Already booked: [ITEMS]

Rules:
- One main thing per day with real downtime; put the most tiring thing early.
- Give rough prices and walking distances from where we're staying.
- Include at least one rainy day backup.
- Tell me to check hours and prices before going, since they can change.

Checkpoint: Show me the day-by-day plan and wait for my OK before the packing and booking lists.

If you get stuck: If you're unsure a place is open or still exists, say so.

Verify before you finish: Check the plan fits the dates and that each day has a backup.

Output: A day-by-day plan, packing lists per person, food and activity ideas and a book-first list.

Done when: We have a realistic plan and know what to book first.

Outcome

Erin Kee flew to Washington, DC, for a weekend with Kee's daughter to meet Kee's husband, who was in Virginia for job training. In the Uber from the airport, Kee sent Claude a long voice note using a trip-planning prompt and asked for an itinerary to share. It came back in about two minutes with specific dishes to order at specific restaurants, opening hours, what was within walking distance of the hotel and how far everything else was. Kee did no research at all. The tip Kee stresses is keeping that one chat open for the whole trip so every "what's near us right now" question has a home. Kee has since reused the prompt for a family lake weekend and a friend's 40th birthday trip to Cabo.
