A prompt is the message you send to the AI tool. Copy the one on this page, put your own details where it asks, and read the answer before you act on it.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Here are my household bills, bank-export spreadsheets and household documents. Build me a working household budget, identify any unusual increases, forecast my annual costs and produce a dashboard. Then set up a scheduled task that reviews new bills or price changes and flags anything worth investigating.

Try this in:

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

Opens in a new tab. We don't see what you send.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Turn my bills and bank exports into a household budget that flags unusual increases.

Questions to ask me first:
- Which months and accounts do the files cover?
- Which categories do you want, or should I suggest them?
- How often should I check new bills for you?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Bank exports: [FILES AND DATE RANGE]
- Bills and statements: [FILES]
- Categories: [CATEGORIES OR 'SUGGEST']
- What counts as unusual: [e.g. more than 10% higher than last month]
- Check schedule: [WEEKLY / MONTHLY]

Rules:
- Don't move money or log in to my bank.
- Say which files you couldn't read instead of guessing amounts.
- Separate one-off costs from recurring ones in the annual forecast.
- Keep my account numbers out of the output.

Checkpoint: Show me the category totals for one month and wait for my OK before building the full budget and dashboard.

If you get stuck: If transactions are hard to categorize, list them for me to sort instead of guessing.

Verify before you finish: Check that the budget totals match the bank exports for each month.

Output: A budget spreadsheet, an annual forecast, a short dashboard and a list of unusual increases.

Done when: I can see where the money goes and what changed, and new bills get checked on schedule.

ChatGPT Work

Outcome

Graham Barlow of TechRadar tried ChatGPT's new Work mode, an agent mode for longer tasks, on personal life admin. Barlow fed it bills, bank-export spreadsheets and household documents and asked it to build a working budget, spot unusual increases, forecast annual costs and produce a dashboard. A scheduled task then reviewed new bills or price changes and flagged anything worth a look. ChatGPT couldn't move money, but Barlow got a clear view of where the money was going. Getting all the data in took a long time, and Barlow says the output was only as good as the effort put into feeding it quality data. The spreadsheets could only be downloaded, not opened straight in Google Sheets.
