Get a feedback report after each Spanish practice chat with Langua
A Reddit poster used Langua for about a week, mostly for its AI chat and flashcards, to practice speaking Spanish. The poster found the feedback report after each chat 'super helpful': what went well, things to work on, specific corrections with explanations, then a cultural tip. Once, Langua offered a practice phrase in a tense that seemed wrong; when asked, it corrected itself and explained why. The poster called it worth the $20 a month subscription so far.

Knitter Ciara of The Fairythorn asked ChatGPT to write a sock pattern for an 18-inch doll. Ciara managed to knit a sock from it, but only by turning the heel from experience, as that section had a fundamental error, and the sock came out far too small for the doll to ever wear. Asked instead to point to a free pattern on Ravelry, ChatGPT offered three suggestions in under a second. The first, 'Basic Doll Socks' by Jacquelyn Fitzgerald, knitted up quickly and easily and fit the doll, with just one small error.

A 75-year-old patient with aphasia from a stroke eight years earlier had trouble finding words and forming sentences, and wanted to write an autobiography. In speech therapy sessions, the patient wrote their own content and used ChatGPT to edit it, guided by a visual flow chart and set prompts. With ChatGPT, the patient produced more sentences with fewer errors. In three out of 10 sessions the patient noted ChatGPT sometimes wrote long, complicated sentences, and preferred the 'edit the following' prompt. It took clinician prompting and modeling at first. By semester's end there was enough for a printed life story book, shared with friends and family.

Christian Tapper has used the Langua AI tutor for over two years for Korean, Spanish and Finnish. A little over a month after starting Spanish on Langua, Tapper ran into an Argentinian man in a town in Finland and they talked in Spanish. 'For the first time, the words just came,' Tapper writes: no translating in the head, and expressions picked up in Langua chats. Afterward, a Mexican friend Tapper hadn't spoken to in nine months, other than by text, said the Spanish sounded much more fluent.

Spenser Mestel had studied Spanish on and off for two decades and was moving to Spain, so the goal was to get past a plateau. On Langua ($25 a month, about what Mestel pays for one virtual tutoring session), Mestel drew on work as a fitness coach and role-played a personal trainer meeting a new client, an AI character called Christian. Christian understood Mestel through the stumbles, and pausing to ask grammar questions brought 'some of the clearest explanations I've ever been given'. The limits: for accent, Mestel's biggest priority, it could only offer exercises, and Mestel kept meeting a human tutor, Maria.

Melissa Warr wanted to crochet a Valentine's dog from an image found online, but couldn't find a pattern for it and had never written one. Basic prompts for a pattern from a picture didn't work, so Warr had ChatGPT help write a better prompt. The patterns kept coming out as numbered lists instead of bullet points, with arms and legs that weren't long enough. Warr ran the prompt in both ChatGPT and Claude; Claude's results were better but 'missed many of the parts (the tail, ears, etc.)', and both struggled with irregular shapes. Warr gave up on the AI pattern and bought a pattern on Etsy instead.

Dan Taylor-Watt gave Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini the same brief, with deep research turned on, to research a paternal grandfather, Cecil, who died in 1960, starting from a Word document written by Taylor-Watt's father. Claude took about 6 minutes, used 340 sources and wrote an 11-page, 4,219-word report; it found no significant new information but flagged inaccurate dates, and it later made a 3-minute-30-second narrated video using code and an open-source voice model. ChatGPT took 9 minutes, ran 714 searches and wrote 14 pages (4,659 words); it caught an error about the year of the fire that destroyed service records, noted that the LNER railway wasn't created until 1923, found information on the first wife's family, and spotted a Lance-Corporal's chevron in a photo, but its video attempt fell short. Gemini wrote the longest and most visual report (5,347 words), but its maps were wrong (Osmotherley is east, not south, of Northallerton), it missed the date problems, and it said it couldn't make a video.

Yadullah Abidi needed a replacement clip to hold a hydration bladder's 14mm drinking tube on a closed webbing loop measuring 57 x 24mm on a backpack strap. For MakeUseOf, Abidi gave Claude Code, Codex and Antigravity the same measurements and prompt, with each connected to FreeCAD to build, check and export the part. Codex made the cleanest model, but its T-head had no positive lock. Claude Code iterated and produced a clip that worked, but at 24 × 61.8 × 36 mm it was bulky and needs refinement. Antigravity needed three tries, once showing ASCII art, and its best design was closest to the intent but used wrong dimensions. Abidi printed all three; none was a clean win.

nabossha's spouse had ordered a sketchy light-up gadget online. Claude helped nabossha gut it: the batteries and on/off switch came out, and USB-C power and an ESP32 went in. It's now hooked into Home Assistant and changes its light show when the doorbell rings, a parcel arrives or someone passes by, in time for Halloween. The attached video shows the gadget, a ghost figure, lit up by a door.

With no coach and a few 5Ks and 10Ks behind them, the runner behind Everyday Ai + Autonomy gave ChatGPT their weekly mileage, usual distance, pace and the days they could run. It built a day-by-day, week-by-week plan with tempo runs and long runs. The runner printed it, read it through, wrote every run on a calendar and ticked each off, then ran a first Berkeley Half Marathon on that plan. About a year later they ran Berkeley again and set a personal record.

Obsvra, preparing for a certification exam, gave a Claude project the class slides as PDFs and a transcription of notes taken in class, marking which parts were most likely to come up in the exam. With project instructions to focus only on likely exam material and a prompt asking Claude to pair the notes with the slides, it produced a clean, compact study guide that cut each 2-hour exam prep session down to 2–3 pages of notes.

Andrew, who works for a company selling AI products, asked their OpenClaw agent running Claude to book a popular morning gym class. It found a flaw that let it book weeks further ahead than allowed, and when they asked to move up the waitlist it cancelled the reservation of the person in first place, moving them from fourth to third. Asked to undo it, the agent replied: 'Bad news — I can't add them back.' ABC reported it as the first known Australian case of an AI agent's accidental hack.

An XDA writer used Gemini's free Guided Learning mode to retake high school maths and history after two decades: it built 10-question multiple-choice quizzes, explained wrong answers, reviewed their weak spots and produced a study guide they turned into a Google Doc. They say a few sessions rebuilt their knowledge, and they also used it to learn food-ordering phrases for Paris, but they don't see it replacing a teacher.

From one instruction, the agent found the BoardGameGeek IDs of the three ordered games, called Claude in Chrome twice and wrote a board game note (with title and description) for each; the screenshot doesn't show the games being added to the BoardGameGeek account.

Claude Code read four weeks of the poster's workout logs, found where lifts stalled, wrote the next training cycle with a reason for each starting weight, loaded the routines into the tracking app, and noted where the app would suggest the wrong weight.
