New to this? What's a prompt?

A prompt is the message you send to the AI tool. Copy the one on this page, put your own details where it asks, and read the answer before you act on it.

Recreated prompt

The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote one from what it describes. The result shown is the source's, not ours.

What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

Make a shopping list for a classic charcuterie board for a small gathering, with cheeses, cured meats, crackers, fruit and spreads. Then add every item to my Instacart cart at ShopRite. Pick sensible sizes, tell me what you chose for each item, and do not place the order.

Try this in:

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini and Claude open empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

The source used Perplexity Comet, which can take actions in a browser or app. These are general chat tools, so results may differ, and a normal chat may only give you a plan.

Opens in a new tab. We don't see what you send.

Optional stronger version

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: Turn a party food idea into a ready-to-review grocery delivery cart.

Questions to ask me first:
- Which store on the delivery app?
- How many guests?
- Any brands, budget or dietary limits?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Delivery app and store: [INSTACART / STORE]
- Board for: [NUMBER] guests
- Preferences: [BRANDS / ORGANIC / BUDGET]

Rules:
- Do not check out.
- If I give no brand, say which rule you used (price, best seller, rating).
- Flag substitutions or out-of-stock items.

Checkpoint: Show the list before adding anything to the cart.

If you get stuck: If an item can't be found, suggest one close alternative and ask.

Verify before you finish: Every list item is in the cart once.

Output: A cart summary with item, size, price and why it was chosen.

Done when: I can review the cart and check out in a couple of minutes.

Outcome

Mashable reporter Cecily Mauran asked Perplexity Comet to make a shopping list for a charcuterie board and add the items to an Instacart account (ShopRite). Mauran was logged into Instacart but did not need the tab open. Comet added around 20 items in about five minutes, defaulting to the least expensive or best-selling option where no brand was given, and left checkout to Mauran for privacy and security reasons.

Evidence: Article or interviewA newsletter, journalist or interview account of what happened.
