What the prompt labels mean

The person didn't share their exact words, so we wrote this from what they described. We haven't tested it, and they didn't use this exact version.

I've uploaded about two years of my bank and credit card statements with personal details blacked out. Break down what I spend on cards versus my bank account, show how much I'm paying in interest, flag any promotional or 0% balances and when they expire, and give me a payoff plan that costs the least interest.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about the details below and wait for my answers. Once I've answered, confirm the plan in one line and run the whole task start to finish.

Goal: A debt payoff plan built from my real statements that keeps interest as low as possible.

Questions to ask me first:
- Which cards carry balances, and at what APRs?
- How much can you put toward debt each month?
- Any promotional balances or big expenses coming up?

Inputs (fill in or confirm):
- Statements: [UPLOADED, PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED]
- Monthly amount for debt: [AMOUNT]
- Cards with balances: [CARD, BALANCE, APR]

Rules:
- Quote the statement line for every promotional rate or deadline you mention.
- Compare at least the avalanche and snowball methods, with total interest for each.
- Don't recommend new credit products.
- Tell me which findings to confirm with the card issuer.

Checkpoint: Show the spending breakdown and interest totals before the payoff plan.

If you get stuck: If a statement term is unclear, quote it and tell me to call the issuer.

Verify before you finish: Every balance and rate in the plan matches a statement.

Output: A one-page plan with monthly payments per card, payoff dates and total interest.

Done when: I know exactly what to pay on each card this month, and why.

Claude

Outcome

Kimberly Eddy created a Claude project called Money Management and uploaded about two years of bank and credit card statements, with names, account numbers and addresses blacked out. Claude gave an overview of where the money had gone (removing a tree knocked over in a hurricane, a gutted bathroom, car repairs and more) and laid out options for paying down the three cards with balances. It kept referring to a 0% promotional balance due to expire in October, and when Eddy asked, Claude pointed to the statement's fine print: the promotional balance on the tree removal wouldn't be paid down unless the cardholder specified it. Within a few months Eddy called the card company and paid that balance off. Claude then gave a specific paydown plan for totals under $10,000, and a suggestion for cutting the cost of eating out became ordering water and an appetizer.
